Keep Yourself Interested In Your Blog

Today I wanted to give a few tips on how to keep you interested in your blog. We all get to that point where we feel like throwing in the towel for various reasons, but there are things you can do to keep the strive there!

templatesChange Templates Every Now and Again- I admit that it can get boring looking at your template after a certain period of time. Now, I stressed in one of my lectures to not fiddle with your template or your blog’s overall appearance for about 150 days. This is only applied to brand-new bloggers. It’s almost a proven fact that in the beginning once you keep changing your blog’s appearance you would want to do it over and over everyday. My “150 Day Waiting Rule” also goes hand in hand with search engine algorithm. If your blog is older than 150 days then feel free to change your template so your attraction to your blog can stay there. Keep in mind not to tamper too much and take your attention from the more important things though. Also, remember to backup your template in all cases.

writing rutWriting Ruts Make Blogging Tough- It’s always a common factor for many bloggers to get in this “writing or content continuity rut”. Being in this set-back is another reason that causes bloggers to lose interest in their craft. One thing that you can do to prevent from being in this content standstill is to carry a pen and notebook around. I do this all the time. Throughout the day things come up in my head to write about and I’ll jot it down fairly quickly. It all goes back to your 5th grade teacher telling you about “brainstorming”. It would be kind of hard to write a good quality post without proper analysis. A well written essay, literature speaking, is a 4. This is where your blog posts need to stand. Anything less than a 3 is unacceptable. Another way to keep from being caught in a writing rut is to just relax! Don’t make publishing posts a punishment to yourself. Have fun with it! Write with a little humor!

If you’re blogging everyday and nobody is stopping by to drop a comment or two, then it makes it more dreadful. This reflects back on quality content and the almighty “traffic”. Quality content speaking, make sure that you run spell check and that your posts makes sense. You need to reread it a recommended 2 to 3 times. You have to keep in mind that you are publishing for the world to see, not just you. When people see that your posts have all kinds of grammatical errors, they don’t take you quite seriously. Now, you don’t have to be an English Major, but just make sure that your posts are “presentable”. When speaking of more people in general, it does go back to having more traffic. You don’t necessarily have to be on the first page of Google for your niche in order to get lots of traffic. If you are, then great! Average blogger speaking though, you will need to put in forth effort in order to get more traffic. It’s always important to join other blog communities. Don’t spam by placing your links everywhere. Grow a bond with people in the blog communities and you will then have organic traffic. Leave comments on other’s threads that are helpful or considerate. Don’t be so anxious about trying to get the traffic “Right Then and There”. It takes time. The more your name is showing up in the blogging community that you’re in, then the more people will automatically click your name just to see what you have to say. That leads to them clicking your blog link as well!

Summary- In order to make your blogging career more better you have to incorporate appearance changing, beating the writing rut, and quality content and traffic!
